It focuses on rural education and is responsible to promote and extend quality education in the public schools of rural and deprived areas. The Local Government Act, 2013 has been promulgated and is being implemented in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province. The government and development partners as well as civil society organizations have been taking varied measures for the success of the new system. On the other hand, the Local Government themselves are also keen to perform better for continuity of the system. However, it will take considerable time and efforts before the local governance as a system in KP can mature at par with the expectations. In this strive to improve performance of decentralized governments, the Government of KP has established a centralized system in the Office of Chief Secretary that gathers information from local governments on key performance indicators on a monthly basis, which is then used by the Provincial Government to evaluate the performance of Local Governments.Read More
